"There is a passage in a letter that Premier Zhou Enlai (1898 - 1976) sent to his wife, Madame Deng Yingchao (1904-92), that reads as follows:
By doing a vibrant gongyo,
let's lead healthy and wise lives!
"Morning after morning
"Morning after morning
we rise up with the Buddha."**
Let's start each and every day,
Let's start each and every day,
brimming with refreshed vibrant
life force!
* When we base our lives on chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, we are able to harmonise our "spiritual aspect" (internal workings) with our "physical aspect" (the actions we take), and we can vibrantly create the utmost value in every situation. Living in this way, centred on our dedication to spreading Nichiren Buddhism for the happiness of all humanity, is the best way to lead a healthy, joyful and fulfilling existence. "There is a passage in a letter that Premier Zhou Enlai (1898 - 1976) sent to his wife, Madame Deng Yingchao (1904-92), that reads as follows:
"'As people age, they tend to reminisce about the past, but in these times (of momentous change), it is more important to look towards the future, to think of future generations and to learn from young people. If we don't pay attention, we will fall behind. Let us rouse our energies and advance!*
"This is exactly so. Nichiren Buddhism teaches the importance of the present and the future. The purpose of Buddhism and faith is for us to always be able to advance from today towards tomorrow filled with hope, taking positive steps for the future."
