[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] To My Friends & Daily Gosho June 8th, 2018 + Daily Encouragement June 9th

* Apologies for yesterday's deluge of To My Friends from Yahoo! We think we and some others got about 7 copies of it! Hope we didn't cause you too much inconvenience and that Yahoo sorts this issue out quickly. Here's today's, hopefully only once!…

A translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
To all of our members
who are in the throes of job hunting,
please try to do your very best!
Based on focused chanting
coupled with sincerity,
bringing forth our most
natural and individual selves,
may we be victorious in accordance
with the Buddhist principle of
"cherry, plum, peach or apricot blossom".*

*Each of us is as unique as a cherry, plum, peach or apricot blossom, like Nichiren states in the Gosho.. Cherry blossoms are cherry blossoms and plum blossoms are plum blossoms. Accordingly, you must bloom in the way that only you can. Without a doubt you possess your own jewel, your own innate talent inside of you. The question is: How can you discover that talent? The only way is to exert yourself to the very limits of your ability. Your true potential will emerge when you give everything you have to your studies or sports or whatever you are engaged in.

The most important thing is that you get into the habit of challenging yourself to the limit in this way. In a sense, the results you obtain are not so important . . . But the efforts put forth by those who make a habit of pushing themselves to the limit will in time bear fruit. They will distinguish themselves from others without fail. They will bring their unique talents to shine. (Excerpted from Discussions on Youth)

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Though a person may have been fortunate enough to be born as a human being and may have even entered the priesthood, if he fails to study the Buddha's teaching and to refute its slanderers but simply spends his time in idleness and chatter, then he is no better than an animal dressed in priestly robes."

- WND, Vol.1, page 760)

—— DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ——
"We believe in Nichiren Daishonin, not in some intermediary, as our foundation. We must be clear on this point. We will continue to work tirelessly to fulfil the great vow for 'kosen-rufu through the compassionate propagation of the great Law' in exact accord with the intent of the Daishonin, the Buddha of the Latter Day.

"In 'On repaying debts of gratitude, the Daishonin writes: "If Nichiren's compassion is truly great and encompassing, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo will spread for 10,000 years and more, for all eternity" (WND – 1, 736.)

"We must remember that kosen-rufu advances due to the boundless compassion of the Daishonin. It is our supreme honour to shoulder that noble undertaking."

From a speech delivered at the Soka Rennaissance Victory Leaders' Meeting, Tokyo, Nov. 30th, 1991, republished in the Daibyaku Renge August, 2017, translation released June, 2018.*
