-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Whenever we go out or on a trip,
let's make sure our safety is first and foremost.
It's vital that we stay prudent at all times*
and make travel plans that allow ample time.
Let's make this Golden Week a meaningful one,
refreshing our energy and at the same time
expanding our circle of friends.
*Gosho: "It is a matter of rejoicing that your usual prudence and courage, as well as your firm faith in the Lotus Sutra, enabled you to survive unharmed." - WND-I, page 1000
**In 2019, the Japanese Emperor is scheduled to abdicate on April 30th, followed by the ascension to the throne of the new Emperor on May 1st which will be a national holiday. As a result, April 30th and May 2nd will also become national holidays (because according to Japanese law, a day between two holidays also becomes a holiday), creating an unprecedented, consecutive 10-days of holidays from April 27th to May 6th. Travel activity is therefore expected to peak around the beginning and end of the holiday period. (Ref.: https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2282.html )

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"It must be ties of karma from the distant past that have destined you to become my disciple at a time like this. Shakyamuni and Many Treasures certainly realised this truth. The sutra's statement, 'Those persons who had heard the Law dwelled here and there in various Buddha lands, constantly reborn in company with their teachers,' cannot be false in any way."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The true exhilaration of our practice is found in eagerly returning from the summit of Buddhahood to the foothills of the nine worlds and sharing our joy with others. We go out into society and tell others about the Mystic Law, show proof of the benefit of Buddhist practice through our own example and expand our movement of hope. Then, we bring others along with us as we climb again to the summit of great joy that is Buddahood. Engaging in this continuous journey, along with many friends, from Buddhahood to the nine worlds and then back again, is how kosen-rufu unfolds."
The Buddhism of the Sun—Illuminating the World, [38] A Compass Guiding us to Lives Brimming with Joy and Pride, From Buddhahood Back to the Nine Worlds, June 2018 issue of Daibyaku-renge, the Soka Gakkai monthly journal. Translation released March 2019.
