[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] April 29-May 5 2019 Words of the Week, April 29 Daily Gosho & Daily Encouragement April 30

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

April 29th - May 5th, 2019
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
The Daishonin teaches us,
"I would like to stress that
the debt to one's mother
is particularly important
and worthy to be taken to heart."*
It's from our heartfelt appreciation
towards our mothers
that happiness and peace truly spreads.
Praising all of our sun-like
women's division members,
let our Soka family continue to advance
with a smile!

*"I, Nichiren, would observe now that in my opinion this sutra passage states the case correctly. There is no need at this late date to emphasise how great is the debt one owes to one's father and mother. But I would like to stress that the debt to one's mother is particularly important and worthy to be taken to heart."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"The mind represents the spiritual aspect, and the voice, the physical aspect. The spiritual aspect manifests itself in the physical."

"The Russian author Leo Tolstoy (1828 - 1910) offered a guide for religion to serve human happiness, saying: 'Man requires for his happiness two beliefs: one, the belief that there is an explanation of the meaning of life, and the other—that he can find in this the very best explanation of life."*
