-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The Daishonin states,
" I say all this solely
for the sake of the nation,
for the sake of the Law,
for the sake of others,
not for my own sake."*
To establish happiness in society
is what the struggle of kosen-rufu
is all about.
Let's be absolutely determined
to be resoundingly victorious
for the sake of the people!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet."
(On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land
- WND, Vol. 1, page 17)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'To look on birth and death with repulsion and try to escape from them is termed delusion, or a viewpoint of acquired enlightenment.* Seeing and understanding the original inherent nature of birth and death is termed awakening or original enlightenment.
"Now when Nichiren and his followers chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, they realise the originally inherent nature of birth and death and the originally inherent nature of ebb and flow.'
From the Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, p.127.
"The questions of human existence--encompassing birth, ageing, sickness and death--are the most important concern of humankind. Nichiren Buddhism teaches the principle of the wonders of life and death. Death is one aspect or phase of the eternal flow of life and, therefore, should not be abhorred.
"When we base our lives on the Mystic Law and reveal the vast life state of Budddhahood, we can soar through the boundless skies of eternity, happiness, true self and purity and savour joy in both life and death. We can make our way for ever together with our loved ones and fellow members.
"Let us illuminate the 21st-century with this supreme teaching of life."
Advancing with the Gosho (2), [53] Soaring through he Boundless Skies of Life, translated from 30th January, 2019 issue of the Seikyo Newspaper, translation released March 2019

* "Acquired enlightenment" is used in contrast with "original enlightenment." According to the doctrine of original enlightenment, enlightenment is not something that one acquires through religious practice but something that exists in one's original state of life. From this viewpoint, "acquired enlightenment" falls into the category of delusion, not true enlightenment.
