---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The Atsuhara Persecution, which was a pivotal event in the Daishonin's life, marked an immortal triumph of the Buddhism of the people that shines on in the history of human rights. During that persecution, Nanjo Tokimitsu stood in the line of attack, bravely shielding his mentor and supporting his sincere fellow practitioners. The Daishonin praised this youthful disciple of selfless dedication, calling him "Ueno the worthy," and assuring him: "Though we may suffer for a while, ultimately delight awaits us" (WND-2, 882).
"Nothing is nobler than efforts directed toward fulfilling the mission of the highest good that is kosen-rufu.
"No matter what trials may beset us, no matter what hardships continue to assail us, we summon forth the same lionhearted spirit as the Daishonin and fearlessly confront them. Encouraging one another as members solidly united in purpose and steadfastly chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, we challenge ourselves to overcome one obstacle after another, changing poison into medicine. We fight with the resolve to triumph in the end with a bright smile to ensure that "ultimately delight awaits" our family, friends, and loved ones as well as the place where we live.
"With this invincible spirit to never be defeated by any obstacle, the first three Soka Gakkai presidents and their disciples have endured every imaginable form of hardship to accomplish the worldwide spread of kosen-rufu. This is the true Soka Gakkai spirit that we must pass on as a living heritage to our successors, the youth division members around the globe."
