-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The Daishonin encourages us,
"Sick people will surely attain Buddhahood."*
Becoming ill is an opportunity
that deepens our faith and
opens up opportunities
to attaining the life state of Buddhahood.
Let the power of daimoku, like the roar of a lion,
pierce through!
Never give up, never be defeated
by the devil of sickness!

*"It is not certain that, because one is ill, one will die. And could not this illness of your husband's be the Buddha's design, because the Vimalakīrti and Nirvana sutras both teach that sick people will surely attain Buddhahood? Illness gives rise to the resolve to attain the way."
- "The Good Medicine for All Ills", WND-I, page 937

 --- DAILY GOSHO ---
"'Belief means to be without doubt.' It is a sharp sword that cuts away doubt and perplexity."

(Belief and Understanding chapter
- OTT, page 54)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"In the midst of appalling adversity, Mr. Toda wrote resolutely in his notebook on September 22nd, 1945:  'Faith in Nam-myoho-renge-kyo means self improvement—unlimited self improvement. In the morning, think of the growth you can achieve in the day ahead, and then eagerly go out and enjoy the day—and, what's more, develop limitlessly…. The Mystic Law enables us to improve ourselves even more, even further."

30th Soka Gakkai Headquarters Leaders Meeting, Imparting Courage and hope to All, January 8th, 2018 Seikyo Shinbun, translation released March 2018
