-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Taking a passive attitude in any situation,
will never enable us to
experience genuine joy.
Let's take the initiative
and create the opportunity
to open up a way!
Once we strongly resolve to do something,
it's absolutely certain that our lives,
and our environment,
will surge forward with vibrant energy and joy.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"The varied sufferings that all living beings undergo – all these are Nichiren's own sufferings."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"In The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, Nichiren Daishonin states: 'The Buddha preached the Lotus Sutra over a period of eight years, and eight characters sum up the message that he has left behind for living beings in this latter age, the Latter Day of the Law' (OTT, 192.)
"What are those eight characters that sum up the essence of the Lotus Sutra? They comprise the passage in the final chapter of the Lotus Sutra [the 'Encouragements of the Bodhisattva Universal Worthy' (28th) chapter]: '[If you see a person who accepts and upholds this sutra,] you should rise and greet him from afar, showing him the same respect you would a Buddha' (LSOC28,365).
"The Daishonin indicates that this is the ultimate conclusion of the Lotus Sutra, calling it 'the foremost point the Buddha wished to convey to us' (OTT, 192). I have reiterated this message many times—that we should respect, as we would Buddhas, those who carry out kosen-rufu in accord with the Daishonin's teachings.
"Mr. Toda always took to heart this fundamental spirit of the Lotus Sutra. He once said: 'At Soka Gakkai meetings, even if there are only one or two people present, it's important to give them your undivided attention, to talk to them about Nichiren Buddhism, and engage in a sincere and inspiring discussion.'
"Mr. Makiguchi shared this conviction.
"Disdaining small discussion meetings or gatherings is a sign of arrogance."
