[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] May 21-27, 2018 Words of the Week, May 21 Daily Gosho & May 22 Daily Encouragement

* Yes, there was a spelling mistake in yesterday's Daily Encouragement it should have read "undaunted" and not "and daunted." Our automatic spell check got the better of us at the last moment!

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Talking to just that one single person
who is right in front of us
helps open up a limitless future
and an immeasurable world.
The Daishonin encourages us,
"You must speak with even greater fervour."*
By sincerely chanting
for the happiness of our friends,
may our voices of hope ring out loud!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"All rivers flow into the sea, but does the sea turn back their waters? The currents of hardship pour into the sea of the Lotus Sutra and rush against its votary. The river is not rejected by the ocean; nor does the votary reject suffering."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"In the early days of our movement, a dedicated young women's division member from the Tohoku region in northeastern Japan earnestly asked me how she could contribute to worldwide kosen-rufu. I praised her and told her that to ponder that question itself was the spirit of the Buddha.

"'Everything,' I said, 'starts from sincerely encouraging the person right in front of you. From there, the way forwards will definitely open.'

"Each persons life is a precious treasure tower. Based on the Buddhist principles of the 'mutual possession of the Ten Worlds,' the 'hundred worlds and thousand factors,' and the 'three thousand realms in a single moment of life, each individual possesses the supremely noble world of Buddhahood.

"Therefore, encouraging another person can transform our community, our land, and even the future. It constitutes the sacred work of the Buddha—the surest and steadiest way to elevate the life state of all humanity, which was my mentor second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda's deepest wish."
