Tokyo now faces power outages from tomorrow for at least three or so hours sometimes twice a day and not in every area of Tokyo at once, similarly other areas of Japan. If it is necessary to contact people in Japan sometimes E-mail works better and if you know their E-mail address on their phone that also might speed things up. Skype also is very effective. If you do get through on the phone keep it as short as you can as others need to use that line, too. Please also be very careful about what you say to people here as many many rumours - about what so say are "facts" - are going around which are not quite true but already is creating panic in some areas, please confirm the source first if possible. All the very best...And don't forget what we need most...your daimoku!
A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Our utmost appreciation to all of those Seikyo Shimbun
newspaper deliverers and distributors
who are trying so hard and selflessly
under such critical circumstances.*
But try not to overdo things, look after yourself,
and stay as calm as you can and act with composure.
We are chanting daimoku for the absolute safety of all of you!
*Seikyo Shinbun got through in many areas but "normal" national newspapers failed to!
