Here in Tokyo today we have had less detectable earthquakes. Local communities have been praised by the local governments for using even less electricity! Trains have been reduced on every line to reduce energy consumption. Slightly fewer people are panic buying. We still have great worries about the nuclear power plant in Fukushima although there has been some positive change. Up north, sadly, the second phase of such a great disaster is beginning to kick in, disease, mental stress and the end of emergency fuel supplies. We battle on though!...

"During the Daishonin's lifetime as well, what was known as the great earthquake of the Shoka era (August 1257) caused unprecedented damage. Grieved by the pain and suffering of the people and amid great persecutions, the Daishonin embarked on writing his treatise, 'On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land,' thereby raising the banner of peace and justice for all humankind. He assures us: 'When great evil occurs, great good follows' (WND-1, 1119)."
