-- TO MY FRIENDS --
March the month that lends brilliance to our lives,
and the harbinger of spring!
By us all making every effort to have an ever vibrant youthful spirit
let us chant, take solid action
and talk to as many people about our philosophy as we can.
And may we always carry the sun of hope in our hearts!

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The journey to propagate
the Mystic Law
is long;
Let us encourage each other
and advance together.

"Toda had written it on New Year's Day 1955. The poem highlights the importance of the bonds between mentor and disciple and among fellow members.

"Kosen-rufu cannot be realised without a stand-alone spirit. At the same time, kosen-rufu will not spread without unity, without members encouraging each other and advancing together. Toda used to refer to the Soka Gakkai--the organisation carrying out this noble task--as 'Soka Gakkai Buddha.'

"As Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'All disciples and lay supporters of Nichiren should chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo with the spirit of many in body but one in mind, transcending all differences among themselves to become as inseparable as fish and the water in which they swim. This spiritual bond is the basis for the universal transmission of the ultimate Law of life and death' (WND-1, 217).

"In other words, when we strive in faith with the unity of shared purpose, as inseparable as fish and water, the universal transmission of the ultimate Law of life and death that is the universal transmission of the Mystic Law will flow on.

"That's why the unity of 'many in body, one in mind' for kosen-rufu is a fundamental condition of 'Soka Gakkai Buddha.' This poem by President Toda is a lesson that all members should engrave in their hearts forever."
