[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 14th March To My Friends & Daily Gosho + 14th - 20th March Words of the Week

* Here in Tokyo power outages are beginning to occur although "scheduled" ones are fortunately not occurring as people try to make an effort to conserve energy. Communication systems are improving. The number of strong aftershocks has also greatly decreased. But there is still a battle to re-establish some kind of "normal" life-style. Up north the battle goes on to find loved ones and to survive. The government though is doing a much better job than when the Kobe earthquake hit but it is being absolutely stretched to its limits with many many challenges.

Translations of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" and "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Ours is the practice of the greatest Law
that enables us to "change poison into medicine."
We will never give up!
Everyone of our fellow members (around the world) is one in mind
chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo most earnestly for our safety.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"It is said that, if a teacher has a good disciple, both will gain the fruit of Buddhahood, but if a teacher fosters a bad disciple, both will fall into hell. If teacher and disciple are of different minds, they will never accomplish anything."
(Flowering and Bearing Grain - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 909)

March 14th-20th, 2011
---- WORDS OF THE WEEK ----
Everyone is so encouraged by and so grateful for
the selfless dedication and actions
of our gallant youth members in Tohoku*
and all of our other Soka Gakkai young people,
helping in many ways those who are suffering from this great disaster.
Now is the time for you to uphold the spirit of "March 16th",*
and use your courageous voices as the young successors of kosen-rufu!

* Tohoku is basically the north eastern side of Japan where the earthquakes were strongest and where the tsunami hit.
*On March 16th, 1958, more than 6,000 youth attend a ceremony at the head temple where President Josei Toda passes responsibility for the spread of the Daishonin's Buddhism to all youth division members. (More details are in the "Successors" chapter of the Human Revolution, Vol. 12.)
