-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Let's try to help people from all walks of life
to establish a connection with Nichiren Buddhism.
The seed of the Mystic Law planted in someone's heart
is certain to grow and blossom some day.
What we need at the core of our efforts is courage and sincerity.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Although I and my disciples may encounter various difficulties, if we do not harbour doubts in our hearts, we will as a matter of course attain Buddhahood. Do not have doubts simply because heaven does not lend you protection. Do not be discouraged because you do not enjoy an easy and secure existence in this life."
(The Opening of the Eyes - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 283) Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin", June 29th, 2011

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"It is essential to talk with others one-on-one. The Lotus Sutra states:

"'If one of these good men or good women in the time after I have passed into extinction is able to secretly expound the Lotus Sutra to one person, even one phrase of it, then you should know that he or she is the envoy of the Thus Come One. He has been dispatched by the Thus Come One and carries out the Thus Come One's Work.'
(LSOC10, 200)

"This famous passage from 'The Teacher of the Law' (10th) chapter encapsulates the way of actual practice for disciples who aspire to carry on the work of their teacher.

"People's lives are infinitely varied. Some of your friends may have problems, while others are striving to realise a dream or goal they have set for themselves. Still others may have lost their way. The important thing is giving your full attention to the person in front of you, and to continue making sincere efforts to talk with them. Everything starts from there. Sometimes it may be all you can do to summon the courage to tell another person: 'The Daishonin's Buddhism is great.' But that, too, constitutes the commendable act of sharing this teaching.

"There may be times when the person you are talking to isn't really listening to what you are saying. Yet even in those cases, your sincerity will touch and resound with that person's inherent Buddha nature. From the profound perspective of life itself, your efforts plant the seed of Buddhahood in their lives, which will eventually sprout, grow, and blossom when the time is right. This is the principle of 'sowing the seeds by letting people hear the teaching.' It is important that we continue to talk with others about Buddhism, whether or not anyone else knows of our efforts. Those who do so are supremely noble emissaries of the Buddha who are actually carrying out the Buddha's work of enabling all people to attain enlightenment."
