"Nothing is accomplished if we hesitate. The renowned Japanese diplomat and educator Inazo Nitobe (1862-1933), another native of Tohoku, said: 'One should never hesitate in doing what is right.' Nitobe, incidentally, was a deputy secretary-general (1919-26) of the League of Nations together with Jean Monnet, whom I mentioned earlier.
"Let's engage in dialogue! Let's meet with people, talk with them, and encourage them!"
