-- TO MY FRIENDS --
To all of the members in our SGI brass bands
and fife and drum corps,
thank you all so much for your heartfelt and energetic performances
Everyone is so inspired by your moving
and rousingly applauds you all!
*"Only by conveying to others in some way the state of life we acquire through faith will they receive our light. Culture is a good example of this. Boddhisattva Wonderful Sound represents cultural activity. I think we can say that Bodhisattva Wonderful Sound's actions symbolise the SGI's movement for peace, culture and education. We are moving forwards, giving rise to a brilliant heavenly song." - The Wisdom of the Lotus Sutra, "The Boddhisattva Wonderful Sound" chapter

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Even when Jakushō and other priests set out from Japan to take some sutras to China, no one was found there who could embrace these sutras and teach them to others. It was as though there were only wooden or stone statues garbed in priests' robes and carrying begging bowls."

Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.I, page 401) Selection source: SGI President Ikeda's guidance, Seikyo Shimbun, August 16th, 2014

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The Daishonin, however, states: 'Ordinary people keep in mind the words "earnest resolve" [or "sincere commitment"] and thereby become Buddhas' (WND-1, 1125).
"When we offer something precious and important to us, then in spirit our offering is the same as that of the boy Snow Mountain, who was willing to give his life to a demon [in exchange for hearing an important Buddhist teaching]. For us, this means pledging to carry out kosen-rufu in the course of our daily lives while living life to the fullest. In doing so, we are devoting our lives to Buddhism, and thereby open the life state of Buddhahood within us."
