A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more. Wednesday, March 11th, 2015 -- TO MY FRIENDS -- All the hardships we undergo for the sake of kosen-rufu shine brilliantly as "treasures of the heart" and remain undiminished across the three existences. By challenging our circumstances with a courageous never to be defeated spirit, let's continue to write our journals of victory and success! Wednesday, March 11th, 2015 --- DAILY GOSHO --- "It is said that, if a teacher has a good disciple, both will gain the fruit of Buddhahood, but if a teacher fosters a bad disciple, both will fall into hell." (Flowering and Bearing Grain, Vol. 1, page 909) Selection source: Young Men's Division Gosho for March, Seikyo Shimbun, Feb 28th, 2015 Thursday, March 12th, 2015 ---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ---- "I was talking with someone yesterday, and our conversation turned to the question of what is the ultimate message of Nichiren Daishonin's writings. We concluded that the first essential message is to base ourselves on the Gohonzon. It is to make the foundation of our faith 'only Nam-myoho-renge-kyo' (WND-1, 902)—that is, to sincerely chant and practise the Mystic Law alone. The second essential message is that 'It is the heart that is important' (WND-1, 1000). These two points, we agreed, are the crucial cornerstones of the Daishonin's writings. "The reason why the second is important is that faith is not just a matter of embracing the Gohonzon and chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, but is also a matter of our heart, or the attitude with which we practice. Is our heart directed towards kosen-rufu? Our innermost heart, the attitude in the depths of our being, determines everything. "Whether we become happy, attain enlightenment, move in the direction of Buddhahood, or wind up in a state of suffering—everything is the exact result of the wondrous workings of our heart or mind. This point cannot be overemphasised." SGI Newsletter No. 9211, The Wisdom for Creating Happiness and Peace, Part 2: Human Revolution, Chap. 8: "It Is the Heart That Is Important", 8.1 Living with an Awareness of the Importance of the Heart, translated from the February 2015 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translation released 6th March, 2015 * The Japanese kanji is available by clicking on Seikyo Shinbun's web-site address at http://www.seikyoonline.jp/news/index.html --WAGATOMO NI OKURU-- KOFU NO ISSAI NO KURO WA SANZE NI KUZURENU [KOKORO NO TAKARA] TO KAGAYAKU!
