-- TO MY FRIENDS --
It's in the midst of the busiest of times
that we must remember to base everything on daimoku!
It's based on daimoku
that the great wisdom of value creation is born
and the path towards a glorious and triumphant future unfolds.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"I am praying that, no matter how troubled the times may become, the Lotus Sutra and the ten demon daughters will protect all of you, praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground."

(On Rebuking Slander of the Law and Eradicating Sins
- The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol. 1, page 444)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Gandhi declared: "I have travelled all over India as perhaps nobody in the present age has. The voiceless millions of the land saw in me their friend and representative, and I identified myself with them to an extent it was possible for a human being to do. I saw trust in their eyes. . . ." [1]

"Gandhi tirelessly traversed the length and breadth of India. This parallels what we are doing in our respective countries for kosen-rufu. As one human being, Gandhi went into the midst of the people, he personally met with and spoke with them. . . .

"Genuine communication and understanding are formed through personal contact and dialogue. People will place their trust in those whose words are genuine and relevant, and be inspired to work together with those individuals, confident that in doing so they will be able to realise peace and build a better, happier world.

"We have to go out and meet with people firsthand, not keep ourselves aloof and observe their lives from a distance. This was Gandhi's firm belief. It has also always been the guiding policy of the SGI and the reason why our movement has grown and developed to the extent it has. Let us work always among the people and in society, with positive, joyful and tenacious commitment, based on our resonant daimoku. Unless we actually strive to benefit individuals and society as a whole, our ideals—no matter how lofty—will be nothing more than empty words. Failure will be the only outcome. This applies equally to business and all other areas of social endeavour."
