-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The Daishonin encourages us,
"Summon up the courage of a lion king."*
Let's speak out for the cause of justice and truth!
Our bold and resolute actions are the driving force
for changing society for the better.
*"Each of you should summon up the courage of a lion king and never succumb to threats from anyone. The lion king fears no other beast, nor do its cubs. Slanderers are like barking foxes, but Nichiren's followers are like roaring lions."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet."
(On Establishing the Correct
Teaching for the Peace of the Land
- The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 17)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The Daishonin asserts that the benefit of chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is immense beyond measure. He affirms that it is indeed possible 'merely by chanting the five or seven characters of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo once a day, once a month, or simply once a year, once a decade, or once in a lifetime, to avoid being drawn into trivial or serious acts of evil, to escape falling into the four evil paths, and instead to eventually reach the stage of non-regression' (WND-1, 141).
"Because the Mystic Law has the vast and limitless power of the Buddha and the power of the Law,[1] it can transform any kind of negative karma.
"As the Daishonin writes elsewhere: 'Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is like the roar of a lion' (WND-1, 412; 'Reply to Kyo'o'). A lion's single roar silences all the other beasts. The power of great good arising from even a single recitation of daimoku can vanquish all forms of evil.
"The Daishonin also writes: 'Only the seven characters of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo are the seed for attaining Buddhahood' (WND-2, 804; 'Daimoku as the Seed of Buddhahood'). A single seed can sprout into a seedling, grow many leaves, and produce abundant flowers and fruit.
"Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, the seed of Buddhahood, contains the causes of all the innumerable practices that lead to enlightenment, and the effects of all the superlative good fortune and benefit to be gained upon attaining enlightenment. That's why, if we just plant that seed in the field of our hearts a single time, we are guaranteed to be able to realise the same life state as the Buddha."
SGI Newsletter No. 9214, Learning from the Writings of Nichiren Daishonin: The Teachings for Victory, [64] "The Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra." Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo Even Once Has Immeasurable Benefit, from the July 2014 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translation released 13th March, 2015
[1] Two of the four powers of the Mystic Law (the other two being the power of faith and the power of practice), whose interaction enables one to have one's prayers answered and attain Buddhahood. The power of the Buddha means the power inherent in the lives of Buddhas, while the power of the Law means the boundless power of the Mystic Law.
