It's springtime, the time to converse with others!
Let's get out and about with lighthearted steps!
And to those who are about to start a new school, grade or job,
let's offer them words of encouragement just like a warm spring breeze.
Let's all live out our lives boldly and with confidence!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"With regard to the Lotus Sutra, when one's hand takes it up, that hand immediately attains Buddhahood, and when one's mouth chants it, that mouth is itself a Buddha."

(Wu-lung and I-lung - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 1099)  Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin", Seikyo Shimbun, March 23rd, 2015

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"In a letter of encouragement to a follower named Nichinyo, Nichiren Daishonin writes:

"'There are trails in the sky where birds fly, but people cannot recognise them. There are paths in the sea along which fish swim, but people cannot perceive them. . . . In like manner, ordinary people cannot see that the "Treasure Tower" chapter [of the Lotus Sutra] exists within the body of Nichinyo, but Shakyamuni, Many Treasures, and the Buddhas of the ten directions perceive it.' (WND-1, 915–16)

"There is a path our lives follow, and though no one else may see it, Nichiren Daishonin perceives it. It is the path of Buddhist practice for ourselves and others that makes the treasure tower shine brilliantly in our lives and the lives of other people.

"In this troubled saha world in which we live, there are countless negative influences that can lead us astray into terrible suffering, until, as the Daishonin puts it, we are 'moving from darkness into darkness' (WND-2, 838).

"The teaching of the Mystic Law enables us to break free from the downward spiral of the evil paths and move into a path where we savour the true joy of living, a path shimmering with hope. This is none other than the direct path to attaining Buddhahood in this lifetime. It is also the path of true filial piety by which we can guide our parents to enlightenment. And it is the unsurpassed way that can lead all people to realise a state of supreme happiness.

"Life's path is often thorny and littered with obstacles. It can sometimes seem like a long tunnel, with no exit in sight. But as the ancient Roman philosopher Seneca said: 'It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness.'[1] Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the engine that enables us to courageously climb the steepest, most difficult slopes."
