Brimming with joy and such conviction
in our inherent boundless potential,

no matter how challenging
our situation(s) may be!

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The tenth and last of the ten troops—arrogance and contempt for others.
"This is manifested in someone who has a high opinion of themselves and looks down on others. When a person grows arrogant, they stop listening to others, and they become lax about doing Soka Gakkai activities and sincerely studying Nichiren Buddhism. Their arrogance will alienate others, leaving them without anyone to point out their errors. The higher a person's social standing, the more likely they are to fall victim to this devilish function.
"Members who manifest this tendency will take part in activities as long as their efforts are applauded and praised by everyone, but when no one is there to make them feel important, they will neglect their practice. As a result, they won't be able to change their karma or elevate their life state, and their good fortune will run out. They will find themselves all alone and end up sad and miserable.
"In the realm of our Buddhist faith and practice, everyone—whether the president of a large company, a high-ranking government official, a university professor, or a top Soka Gakkai leader—is equal. Prestige and renown are inconsequential.
"Achieving success in society is an important aspect of showing actual proof of faith. But if that success is sought out of a desire for fame and fortune, it has no meaning from the perspective of faith. Prestige and renown are not requirements for absolute happiness, and they don't determine whether one attains Buddhahood.
"In the realm of faith, truly great are those who have earnestly chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, introduced others to Nichiren Buddhism, given personal encouragement to fellow members, and helped foster many capable individuals. Those who have worked hard to advance kosen-rufu and support their fellow members are the most admirable.
