A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.
March 19th-25th, 2018
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
To all of our members who are starting a new school
or job, or moving on to a new place, etc.,
let's offer warm words
of support and encouragement!
No matter where we are going to be,
the place where we practice this faith
is the Land of Eternally Tranquil Light.*
By looking after each and every one
of our fellow members carefully,
let's welcome this spring in
where everyone shines as a capable person!
*"And now the place where Nichiren and his followers chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, 'whether… in mountain valleys or the wide wilderness' (chapter twenty-one, Supernatural Powers), these places are all the Land of Eternally Tranquil Light." - OTT, page 192

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Strengthen your resolve more than ever. Ice is made of water, but it is colder than water. Blue dye comes from indigo, but when something is repeatedly dyed in it, the colour is better than that of the indigo plant."
(The Supremacy of the Law
- WND, Vol. 1, page 615)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"I would like to share with you one of my favourite poems. Mr Guo Moruo (1892-1978) the great Chinese writer, who voiced his high hopes for our Soka movement, composed it during his visit to Japan:
When water is about to boil
its surface momentarily stills.
When spring is about to arrive
the ice and snow briefly intensify.
My friends, turn up the heat
and the water will boil.
My friends, advance
and spring will soon come.*
"When the winter cold intensifies, spring is on the way. Though you may be experiencing difficulty now, if you endure, the time will come when the flowers bloom. Taking a single step forwards brings the spring of victory that much closer. So face adversity with courage, perseverance, determination and the spirit of never being defeated.
"… Advance cheerfully towards a spring of victory and brilliant achievement! And join me in building bridges of friendship leading to a beautiful springtime of world peace!"
Spread Your Wings Towards the Future, (33) The State Guesthouse in Beijing, from the Dec. 1st, 2016 issue of the Mirai (Future) Journal, translation released Jan. 2018
