*Advancing towards the 60th anniversary of March 16th, Kosen-rufu Day, 1 million SGI youth around the world will hold a united World Youth Gongyo from their homes. This will be held at the same time as the March 11th youth gathering in Japan, when 600,000 Soka Gakkai youth will connect by satellite for a World Youth General Meeting broadcasted from Tokyo. (ref. "'Such is the power of the fire of wisdom in the single character myo (meaning "mystic," of Myoho-renge-kyo). Not only will all offences vanish, but they will become sources of benefit. This is what changing poison into amrita1 means.'

"Such is the power of wisdom contained in the single character myo that it can vanquish the darkness of any suffering and cause the brilliant light of happiness to shine forth.
"There is absolutely no need to lament that your negative karma is too heavy. Through our practice of Nichiren Buddhism, we can change any poison into medicine from where we are right now. The pioneer members of the Soka Gakkai have demonstrated this by resolutely transforming their karma through chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo themselves and teaching others to do the same.
"Therefore, my youthful friends, start each day with a vibrant gongyo and daimoku, as you strive to create brilliant achievements in your lives and in kosen-rufu.."

1. Amrita: legendary, Ambrosia-like liquid. In ancient India, it was regarded as the sweet-tasting beverage of the gods. In China, it was thought to rain down from heaven when the world became peaceful. Amrita is said to remove sufferings and give immortality. The word Amrita means immortality and is often translated as sweet dew.
