-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Introducing someone to Nichiren Buddhism
is the most difficult thing to do.
That is why it's important
to challenge ourselves
with both patience and perseverance!
The more challenges we face
(because of our efforts
towards sharing this Buddhism),
the more,
immeasurable benefits are accumulated
in our lives!
*Shakubuku is a practice for others, a concrete exercise of compassion and belief in their Buddha nature. It is an act of the highest respect for others and one that requires courage—to speak in-depth about the teachings of Buddhism. Practising solely for oneself might seem an easier option, but this is not the real road to enlightenment. ... The spirit of shakubuku, however, is never the shallow, argumentative concern with proving oneself or one's views superior to another's. It is the spirit of sustained compassion to enable another person to believe in the great, unrealised potential of their life.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"If in a single moment of life we exhaust the pains and trials of millions of kalpas, then instant after instant there will arise in us the three Buddha bodies with which we are eternally endowed. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is just such a 'diligent' practice."
(The Essential Passage in Each of the Twenty-eight Chapters of the Lotus Sutra
- OTT, page 385)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'You should meet with those who can instruct you in Buddhism (that is, "good friends ") from time to time and let them explain this doctrine to you. It is a doctrine known to few people in the country of Japan.'
- From 'Reply to the Wife of Gyobu Saemon-no-jo' (WND-2, 898).
"Kosen-rufu is the noble endeavour of forming ties of friendship. By being a good friend to others, we can help many people form a connection with Nichiren Buddhism.
"Those who engage in Buddhist dialogue, believing in the nature inherent in each person's life and striving to help them reveal it, are envoys of the Buddha and the best possible good friends. Sharing our joys and convictions in faith in a natural and honest manner, let's sow the seeds of happiness in others' hearts.
"Our sincere prayers for our friends' happiness will reach them without fail. Let's continue to build the most beautiful network of hope and trust in the world!"
