On occasions when we have to 

take off our masks,

let's be very careful 

and take appropriate 

precautionary measures,

such as refraining from talking

while eating and/or drinking!

Let's never become inattentive 

or get into any bad habits,

like thinking, 

"this should probably be ok."

"'In the more than twenty years since the summer of the fifth year of the Kencho era (1253),* I alone have been chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo day and night, morning and evening.'

— From "The One-eyed Turtle and the Floating Log" (WND–1, 959).

"Out of his wish for the happiness and peace of all humankind, Nichiren Daishonin proclaimed the establishment of his teaching of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo [on April 28th, 1253]. And he embarked alone on a great struggle to propagate the Mystic Law while enduring unceasing hardship and persecution.

"The mentors and disciples of Soka have inherited the spirit of taking personal initiative for kosen-rufu  The more challenging the times, let's chant the lions roar of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and send forth the brilliant light of the Buddhism of the Sun from where we are. Fellow Bodhisattvas of the Earth will emerge in response without fail."

* Nichiren Daishonin chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for the first time at Seicho-ji temple in Awa Province on the twenty-eighth day of the fourth month, 1253, thus proclaiming the establishment of his teaching. According to the lunar calendar, the fourth month is the first month of summer.
