* National Japanese press holiday today to give all those involved in producing and delivering a paper a short rest. "To My Friends" will be back tomorrow and "Words of the Week" was posted yesterday! But nay we here shall't not rest! Here's "Daily Gosho" and of course, "Daily Encouragement!" Enjoy!...
--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Devadatta was the foremost good friend to the Thus Come One Shakyamuni. In this age as well, it is not one's allies but one's powerful enemies who assist one's progress."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'[The Buddha teaches that people of sincere faith will gain the reward of good fortune in this present existence.] Judging from this, there cannot be the least doubt that your late father is now in the presence of Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings, and that you [his son Nanjo Tokimitsu] will receive great blessings [or benefit] in your present existence. How wonderful, how splendid!'

(WND-1, 655).
"In Nichiren Buddhism, we offer prayers for our deceased loved ones each day as part of our practice of gongyo and chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. In this way, we pass on to them the great benefit of the Mystic Law we are accumulating in our lives. This is the meaning of praying for the deceased in Nichiren Buddhism. We can do this directly without any intermediary.
"All our efforts for kosen-rufu and to encourage our fellow members become supreme offerings we can make for the happiness of the deceased. The victory and growth of successors serve as proof that those who have passed away have attained Buddhahood.
"Convinced that both life and death are filled with joy, let's envelop our families and all those with whom we share a connection in great benefit!"
Spreading the Brilliant Light of the Daishonin's Writings, [15] The Great Beneficial Power of the Mystic Law, from 18th March, 2021, issue of the Seikyo Newspaper, translation released May, 2021.
