* Yesterday we mentioned a passage in gongyo, the quote should have read "Shujo sho yu-raku." Our apologies.

A translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Newspaper based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

Unceasing challenges!
Boundless
improvement and growth!

to describe our young people.
Now, let's start anew,
from the founding month
of the youth division,*
with new challenges to scale
of the next peak of kosen-rufu!

*Soka Gakkai's young men's and women's divisions were founded on July 11th and 19th, 1951, respectively.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT----
"'Hungry spirits perceive the Ganges river as fire, human beings perceive it as water and heavenly beings perceive it as amrita.* Though the water is the same, it appears differently according to one's karmic reward from the past.'

– From "Reply to the Lay Priest Soya" (WND—1, 486).

"The way we view things changes dramatically depending on our life state. Faith in the Mystic Law enables us to elevate our inner state of being.

"Through our prayers and efforts to realise the Daishonin's ideal of 'establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land,' we can develop the Dharma eye and the Buddha eye,** allowing us to distinguish between true or false, right or wrong, recognise the unseen efforts of our fellow members and discern the various problems facing our communities and society.

"Viewing challenging obstacles as springboards for our human revolution, let's transform everything into a source for creating value."

Spreading the Brilliant Light of the Daishonin's Writings, [13] Transforming Challenging Obstacles into Springboards for Growth from the March 5th, 2021 issue of Seikyo Newspaper, translation released May 2021.

* A legendary, ambrosia-like liquid.
** Buddhism teaches five types of vision or eyes: the eyes of ordinary people, the heavenly eye, the wisdom eye, the Dharma eye and the Buddha eye. The Buddha eye includes all the other four eyes or perspective faculties.
