-- TO MY FRIENDS --
In any of the gatherings of the SGI
there is always inspiration to be found
while they sparkle with humanity.
Let's do all we can to encourage each
of our fellow members to attend such gatherings
by talking with them and offering warm caring words!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"But your faith alone will determine all these things. A sword is useless in the hands of a coward. The mighty sword of the Lotus Sutra must be wielded by one courageous in faith. Then one will be as strong as a demon armed with an iron staff."
(Reply to Kyō'ō - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol 1, page 412)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The times are as turbulent as a storm-tossed sea. That's why we need to hold tight to the 'compass' of supreme philosophy that is the Gosho, the Daishonin's writings, and purposefully navigate our course in kosen-rufu and life.
"In the Daishonin's writing 'The Real Aspect of the Gohonzon,' we find the passage:
"'Never seek this Gohonzon outside yourself. The Gohonzon exists only within the mortal flesh of us ordinary people who embrace the Lotus Sutra and chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. The body is the palace of the ninth consciousness [1] [the Buddha nature], the unchanging reality that reigns over all of life's
functions. . . . This Gohonzon also is found only in the two characters for faith.' (WND-1, 832)
"Nichiren Buddhism elucidates the preciousness and dignity of life with tremendous profundity and absolute clarity. As individuals who embrace the Mystic Law, our lives themselves, the Daishonin tells us, are the entity or object of fundamental respect. As such, we must never look down on or belittle ourselves."
SGI Newsletter No. 9337, SGI President Ikeda's Message, 15th Soka Gakkai Headquarters Leaders Meeting, Fostering Capable People Who Can Change the Destiny of Humankind, from the January 10, 2016, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translation released 13th Jan. 2016
[1] Ninth consciousness: Also, amala-consciousness. The Buddha nature, or the fundamental purifying force, that is free from all karmic impediments.
