--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Buddhism primarily concerns itself with victory or defeat, while secular authority is based on the principle of reward and punishment. For this reason, a Buddha is looked up to as the Hero of the World, while a king is called the one who rules at his will."

(Gosho: Hero of the World,
WND, Vol 1, page 825)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Nichiren Daishonin writes:  'I am praying that, no matter how troubled the times may become, the Lotus Sutra and the ten demon daughters[1] will protect all of you, praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground' (WND-1, 444).

"Precisely because we live in such troubled times, we must always start with prayer and remain united in the spirit of 'many in body, one in mind.' Steadfastly following through with this 'strategy of the Lotus Sutra' is certain to open the way to victory in both life and kosen-rufu."

SGI Newsletter No. 9330, SGI President Ikeda's New Year's Message for 2016, Let Us Unite to Build a New Global Civilisation — Aiming towards the Soka Gakkai's Centennial in 2030, from the January 2016 issue of the SGI Graphic, translation released Jan 4th, 2016

[1] Ten demon daughters: The ten female protective deities who appear in the "Dharani" (26th) chapter of the Lotus Sutra as the "daughters of rakshasa demons" or the "ten rakshasa daughters." They vow to the Buddha to guard and protect the sutra's votaries.
