-- TO MY FRIENDS --
It's the very essence of all our activities
for leaders to be the forerunners.
First of all, let's take action ourselves
and then share with others
the challenges we are facing
and the experiences we have had
of practising this Buddhism,
vividly and enthusiastically!

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"President John F. Kennedy (1917–63) of the United States called courage "the most admirable of human virtues." [1] He admired courage, and earnestly sought capable people who were courageous and prized that quality themselves. He also believed that important lessons could be learned from such people.

"I understand his sentiments perfectly. Courageous people have integrity, and people with integrity are trustworthy. Trustworthy people make many friends and bring success. . . .

"Second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda also stressed the importance of courage. He solemnly declared that while Buddhism teaches compassion, it's really all about courage—in other words, acting with courage is the way to manifest true compassion. Courage and compassion are two sides of the same coin, he said. . . .

"None are more admirable than those who can summon courage at a crucial moment. Courage is the very essence of Buddhism and of genuine humanity. . . .

"Courage is the driving force for victory."
