(The Treasure of a Child - WND, Vol. II, page 884) Selection source: Soka Gakkai member's experience, Seikyo Shimbun, February 12th, 2017 Tuesday, February 14th, 2017 ---- Daily Encouragement ---- "Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'If we inquire into the origin of Mount Sumeru, we find that it began with a single speck of dust; and likewise, the great ocean began with a single drop of dew. One added to one becomes two, two becomes three, and so on to make ten, a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand, a hundred thousand, or an asamkhya [an exceedingly large number]. Yet "one" is the mother of all' (WND-1, 667). "Everything starts with one person. By encouraging and fostering one person, by engaging one person in dialogue and helping them form a connection with Nichiren Buddhism—such patient, steady, persevering efforts will build a great mountain of Soka victory and create a great ocean of kosen-rufu. "The Daishonin writes: 'I, Nichiren, am the first to embark on propagating, throughout Jambudvipa [the entire world], the five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo' (WND-1, 765). The heavenly deities will not fail to protect all of you who are striving with the Soka Gakkai spirit of pioneering kosen-rufu directly linked to the Daishonin. "The greater the challenges, the more our courageous members shine in every region as they take action with the stand-alone spirit. This is the pride of the Soka Gakkai. "In light of the Daishonin's writings, please be assured that all of your efforts to pioneer the way for kosen-rufu are the same as making offerings to all the Buddhas of the ten directions and three existences, and will imbue your lives with immeasurable and boundless benefits."
