The Daishonin teaches,
"The lion king is said to advance three steps,
then gather himself to spring,
(unleashing the same power
whether he traps a tiny ant
or attacks a fierce animal."*
It is vital that we never become overconfident
even for the smallest of matters.
By chanting daimoku
with the ferocity and momentum of a lion,
the path to victory dramatically opens up.
Now, with the heart of a lion king,
let's be victorious!

In inscribing this Gohonzon for her protection, Nichiren was like the lion king. This is what the sutra means by 'the power [of the Buddhas] that has the lion's ferocity.'"

"The organisation is a means, not an end; it is not perfect.
"In the early years of my practice, I found it difficult to get used to the atmosphere of the Soka Gakkai organisation in those days. Back then, we lacked the element of culture, and I just couldn't bring myself to like the organisation. Sensing this, President Toda said to me: 'If that's how you feel, then why don't you create an organisation that you truly like? Work hard and devote yourself earnestly to building the ideal organisation through your own effort!'
"It's the same with school or your family. As a member of the organisation that is school, you need to be committed to making it a better place. As a member of the organisation that is your family, you need to have the spirit to create the best possible home environment. That only stands to reason, and Buddhism is based on reason. Taking personal responsibility for our lives with the spirit 'I will be the driving force for change!' is the spirit of Nichiren Buddhism.
"Our organisation dedicated to kosen-rufu was created so that we could deepen our understanding of Nichiren Buddhism and also share its ideals and principles with others."
