A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.
February 6th-12th, 2017
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
It is vital that we summon up our courage
to help others to connect with Buddhism.
It is important to have the kind of conviction
that moves other's hearts
and at the same time shows our upmost sincerity
so that we naturally earn other's trust.
With pride as Bodhisattvas of the Earth,
let's expand the network of happiness we share,
reaching out and encouraging those in front of us.*
*"The Bodhisattvas of the Earth are a source of great light imparting courage and strength... Reaching out to the person in front of us, engaging with them, giving them hope and courage for living, and empowering them to attain happiness through their own efforts--this is truly the definition of a world religion."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Myō means to revive, that is, to return to life."
(The Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Good friends function in various different ways. They support practitioners of Buddhism and enable them to practise with security and peace of mind. They strive alongside others who are practising Buddhism and help one another improve their lives through mutual support and inspiration. And they teach others about the correct doctrines and principles of Buddhism and put them on the path to right action.
"All of you, as leaders of our movement, are good friends, people of virtue, who are guiding and leading others towards kosen-rufu, the Gohonzon, the Mystic Law, and the attainment of Buddhahood by encouraging them to do gongyo, attend meetings, and read the Daishonin's writings.
"The Soka Gakkai is a gathering of good friends. It is an organisation for promoting Buddhist faith and practice, and for expanding and developing kosen-rufu. It has the important mission of leading people all over the world to the correct teaching of Buddhism and guiding them onto the path for attaining Buddhahood."
