-- TO MY FRIENDS --
To all of our dear friends in the great Kansai region,*
it's time now to make great strides ahead
with solid unity
based on the unwavering vow of mentor and disciple!
Let's proudly raise the flag
of the "ever victorious" Kansai spirit
over our precious and esteemed citadel,
the bastion of kosen-rufu!
* The Kansai region comprises of 10% of Japan's land area. It consists of eight prefectures; Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Shiga, Nara, Wakayama, Mie and Tokushima.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"This passage is saying that if in a single moment of life we exhaust the pains and trials of millions of kalpas, then instant after instant there will arise in us the three Buddha bodies with which we are eternally endowed. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is just such a 'diligent' practice."
(The Essential Passage in Each of the
Twenty-eight Chapters of the Lotus Sutra
- The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, page 214)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Showing all who dedicate themselves to kosen-rufu the same respect one would a Buddha—this is the foremost message of the Lotus Sutra (cf. OTT, 192). When we praise those striving for kosen-rufu, we gain benefit ourselves and help others do the same.
"As Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'When praised highly by others, one feels that there is no hardship one cannot bear. Such is the courage that springs from words of praise' (WND-1, 385).
"As leaders, it is important not to overlook those who are working hard behind the scenes. Be keenly aware of even the smallest positive efforts they are making and praise them. Impart hope and motivation.
"I hope you will help draw forth each person's unique qualities and work together with everyone in a spirit of mutual respect. Such teamwork will lead to solid development."
