--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered."

(On Prayer - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin,
Vol. 1, page 345)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Ichiyo Higuchi (1872–1896). Most people in Japan are familiar with her face, which is printed on the 5,000-yen banknote… wrote: 'All who are born into this world, whether rich or poor, high or low, are fellow human beings.'[1]

"This is an unquestionable truth.

"Nichiren Buddhism teaches that the cherry, plum, peach, and damson blossoms—though all different—each have their own beauty. Our Buddhist practice allows us to make our individual beauty shine its brightest.

"You all have strong points, talents. There's no need to compare yourself to others or be envious of them. When something doesn't seem to be going right even though you're giving it your best, or when you can't seem to find your strong point—try chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. Chanting daimoku will energise you. It will boost your self-confidence. And it will give you the courage to keep trying your hardest.

"When you face your problems just as you are, chant daimoku about them, and confidently challenge yourself, you are polishing your life. You can make the treasures of your heart shine. And you'll be able to discover your strong points.

"You have many, many strong points! So do your friends. That's why it's important to encourage and help one another develop those strengths as much as possible.

"A strong point does not just refer to some special talent. For example, having the courage not to be afraid of failing is a wonderful strong point. So is being kind and caring to your parents and other people in your life.

"Ichiyo Higuchi said that we all have a diamond in our hearts.[2] Let's find the diamond in our hearts, treasure it, and make it shine brilliantly!"
