--- DAILY GOSHO ---

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, the founding president of the Soka Gakkai. is recorded as having given the following response to one of the interrogators' questions:
"'Sometimes people, overly concerned about the opinion of society, satisfy themselves with a way of life in which they do no real good or bad, or in which what good they do is very limited. In extreme cases, this leads to the view that it is acceptable to do anything so long as it is not prohibited by law. I consider all such ways of life a form of slander against the Buddhist dharma.'[i]
"By slander, Makiguchi is referring to actions that run counter to the teachings of Buddhism; but in a more expansive sense, he is encouraging us to reflect on all actions that are not in harmony with the path of humanity."
