A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more. Thursday, June 25th, 2015 -- TO MY FRIENDS -- The Daishonin states, "The wise will rejoice while the foolish will retreat."* It's when we hit a wall of obstacles that we have the great opportunity to grow. Having unyielding conviction in this point, let's stand up and courageously take on any challenge that we might be facing now! *"There is definitely something extraordinary in the ebb and flow of the tide, the rising and setting of the moon, and the way in which summer, autumn, winter, and spring give way to each other. Something uncommon also occurs when an ordinary person attains Buddhahood. At such a time, the three obstacles and four devils will invariably appear, and the wise will rejoice while the foolish will retreat." - "The Three Obstacles and Four Devils", WND-I, page 637 Thursday, June 25th, 2015 --- DAILY GOSHO --- "Those who believe in the Lotus Sutra are as if in winter, but winter always turns to spring." (Winter Always Turns to Spring - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Volume 1, page 536) Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin", Seikyo Shimbun, June 25th, 2015 Friday, June 26th, 2015 ---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ---- "Makiguchi's intent was to 'demonstrate scientifically and empirically that the Mystic Law, the supreme teaching of Buddhism, is a universal law governing the lives of all people.'[1] And he indeed proved, 'by accumulating countless evidence of both fortune or misfortune, that the Mystic Law is not merely an abstract philosophical truth but an infinite source of life force that is manifested in the actuality of daily life.'[2] In other words, he said, 'it became possible to prove in every case and to absolutely anyone that Nichiren Buddhism is an infallible law of life.'[3] "The Daishonin writes: 'Nothing is more certain than actual proof' (WND-1, 478). One example of actual proof is more effective in the effort to achieve kosen-rufu than a million words of theory."
