A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more. Saturday, June 20th, 2015 ― TO MY FRIENDS -- The power of the Mystic Law is absolutely boundless! "No prayer (of the votary of the Lotus Sutra) will go unanswered." There is no wall that cannot be broken down, (no obstacle that cannot be overcome.) By having great confidence and conviction in this faith, let's continue to advance! *"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered." - "On Prayer", WND-I, page 345 Saturday, June 20th, 2015 --- DAILY GOSHO --- "So long as one maintains firm faith, one is certain to receive the great protection of the gods." We ourselves or our loved ones are bound at some time to face unexpected illness or the harsh realities of ageing. "In a letter to his disciple Toki Jonin, Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'I am as concerned about the illness of your wife, the lay nun Toki, as though it were I myself who is ailing, and day and night I pray . . . that she will recover' (WND-2, 666). And in another letter of encouragement to the lay nun Toki, he cites a passage from the Lotus Sutra, which states: 'This sutra provides good medicine for the ills of the people of Jambudvipa [the entire world]' [LSOC23, 330] (WND-1, 954). "In keeping with the spirit of the Daishonin, we chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo —which, as the essence of the Lotus Sutra, is the greatest medicine of all—and support and encourage one another. "The Daishonin also tells the ailing lay nun Toki: 'One day of life is more valuable than all the treasures of the major world system. . . . [M]oreover you have encountered the Lotus Sutra. If you live even one day longer, you can accumulate that much more benefit' (WND-1, 955). "Each day spent living to the fullest together with the Mystic Law and our fellow members—doing our best, undeterred by illness or ageing—allows us to accumulate immeasurable good fortune and benefit."
