-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
The Daishonin teaches,
"The ray of light from the daimoku
reaches all the way to the hell
of incessant suffering
and makes it possible for them
to attain Buddhahood then and there."*
Our daimoku with the vow
Our daimoku with the vow
towards achieving kosen-rufu
is the ultimate way of prayer
for transference of merit for the deceased.
Let's continue on this great journey together
endowed with the four virtues of eternity,
happiness, true self and purity.
*"Now when Nichiren and his followers perform ceremonies for the deceased, reciting the Lotus Sutra and chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, the ray of light from the daimoku reaches all the way to the hell of incessant suffering and makes it possible for them to attain Buddhahood then and there. This is the origin of the prayers for transference of merit for the deceased." - The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, page 17

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"When you shake your head, your hair sways; when your mind begins to work, your body moves. When a strong wind blows, the grass and trees can no longer remain still; when the earth shakes, the seas are atremble. Thus if one can move Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings, can the grass and trees fail to respond, can the waters remain calm?"
(Concerning the Statue of Shakyamuni Buddha
