-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
The Daishonin teaches,
"The best way to attain Buddhahood
is to encounter a good friend."*
By inspiring each other at our discussion meetings,
let's together make a fresh start
with the greatest of joys
for the happiness of ourselves and others,
for the expansion of our movement,
and for the victorious achievement of our goals!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"But by making offerings to the three treasures, one avoids falling into hell and receives the retribution in this life, in the form of afflictions of the head, eye, or back."

(On Curing Karmic Disease - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Volume 1, page 631)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The 'Benefits of Responding with Joy' (18th) chapter of the Lotus Sutra teaches the 'benefit of the fiftieth hearer' in a chain of propagation (cf. LSOC18, 286–91). An individual hears the teaching of the Lotus Sutra and rejoices. That person then shares their experience with another, who in turn shares this joy with yet another. This passage from the Lotus Sutra assures us that even the fiftieth person in that chain will receive great benefit.

"Simply telling another person about the greatness of faith is an admirable way to share Buddhism with others. That is because by doing so, we are making a cause in our own life as well as in the life of the other person to savour tremendous good fortune and benefit. Therefore, we should never feel disheartened or impatient if our efforts at Buddhist dialogue don't seem to produce immediate results.

"Just have the Daishonin's spirit of feeling ever greater joy (cf. WND-1, 243) and confidently and cheerfully continue to carry out dialogue with one friend after another. Such unflagging efforts will lead to the unfolding of a new drama of the 'benefit of the fiftieth hearer.'"
