A translation of President Ikeda's "Words of the Week"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

Feb 16th - 22nd, 2015
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
The Daishonin encourages us,
"Teach others to the best of your ability,
even if it is only a single sentence or phrase."*
It is through making steady efforts to
engage in dialogue with others
that we can develop unshakable strength in ourselves
and, at the same time, expand our solidarity of hope.

*"The True Aspect of All Phenomena" - WND-I, page 386

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet."

(On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, page 17) Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin", Seikyo Shimbun, February 16th, 2015

Tuesday, Feb 17th, 2015
---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The greater our efforts, the greater our life state expands, and the wider our circle of friendship spreads. The harder we strive for kosen-rufu in challenging circumstances, the more good fortune and benefit we accumulate.

"In 'On Repaying Debts of Gratitude,' Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'A hundred years of practice in the Land of Perfect Bliss cannot compare to the benefit gained from one day's practice in the impure world. Two thousand years of propagating Buddhism during the Former and Middle Days of the Law are inferior to an hour of propagation in the Latter Day of the Law' (WND-1, 736).

"Through even just a single day's effort in the present , we can create a hundred, a thousand, even ten thousand days' worth of value. This is the essence and true exhilaration of Buddhist dialogue."

SGI Newsletter No. 9199, The Song of Human Victory, Adorning the Soka Gakkai's Founding Month with Practice and Study, from 15th Nov., 2014, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translation released 12th Feb. 2015
