A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more. Sunday, Feb 22nd, 2015 -- TO MY FRIENDS -- Until we have achieved the goals we set out to achieve let's steadfastly challenge them with dogged persistence! It's in the midst of such constant daily efforts that remarkable growth takes place. Advancement equals victory! Sunday, Feb 22nd, 2015 --- DAILY GOSHO --- "More valuable than treasures in a storehouse are the treasures of the body, and the treasures of the heart are the most valuable of all." (The Three Kinds of Treasure - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 851) Selection source: President Ikeda's Essay, Seikyo Shimbun, Feb 22nd, 2015 Monday, Feb 23rd, 2015 ---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ---- "Mr. Toda often spoke about the purpose of life. It's quite common for us to establish goals based on our wishes for future happiness—our plan for the coming year, goals such as finding a job, getting married, finding a new home, and so forth. Mr. Toda said: 'True, these are all naturally goals we make in the course of living our lives, but viewed in terms of the highest goal, they are all no more than a means to an end. Put another way, if you don't have an ultimate goal, you can't establish the proper means.'[1] "There is the ultimate goal of life, and then there are the various challenges we face along the way. The supreme and ultimate goal is the grand undertaking of kosen-rufu. Upholding and spreading Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, the great Law for attaining Buddhahood, means us and others sharing supreme happiness. Once we are clear about our true purpose in life, we can create the best possible value from every challenge that appears along the way. When we are dedicated to realising the great vow for kosen-rufu, we can transform everything without exception into a source for creating something positive. This is the true meaning of 'earthly desires are enlightenment' and 'the sufferings of birth and death are nirvana.'"
