published in the Seikyo Shinbun and more.

-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Kosen-rufu is achieved right where we stand.
Let's always take great care of our local community
and make every effort
to develop good healthy relations and friendships
with our neighbours.
By showing our sincere and caring behaviour
as human beings,
let's cheerfully strive to help as many people as we can
to form a positive connection with Buddhism

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Kyō'ō's misfortune will change into fortune. Muster your faith, and pray to this Gohonzon. Then what is there that cannot be achieved?"

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Soka Gakkai founding president, Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, included himself among the youth, frequently using the expression 'we youth.' He first encountered Nichiren Buddhism at the age of 57, and founded the Soka Kyoiku Gakkai (Value-Creating Education Society), the forerunner of the Soka Gakkai, at 59. He always took the lead in efforts to share Buddhism with others, devoting himself to the happiness of the people. And he died for his beliefs in prison at the age of 73, opposing the demands of Japan's wartime militarist authorities. The way he lived his life should inspire all of us, his disciples of the present day, to renew our determination to keep our fighting spirit burning brightly throughout our lives.
"My mentor, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda, said: 'Life is long, and we don't know what karma awaits us. We can never be certain what will happen. We absolutely need a set of beliefs, a philosophy, to enable us to live our lives with strength and confidence.'
"All people face the realities of birth, ageing, sickness, and death. No one can escape them. But if we persevere in our Buddhist practice, we can actualise a life state pervaded by the four noble virtues of eternity, joy, true self, and purity.[1] Basing ourselves on our great vow for kosen-rufu and striving day after day in SGI activities, no matter what hardship or adversity we encounter, we can transform karma into mission."
SGI Newsletter No. 9486, The Buddhism of the Sun—Illuminating the World, [12] The Five Eternal Guidelines of the Soka Gakkai—Part 4 [of 5], "Faith for Health and Long Life"—The Indestructible Brilliance of the Treasures of the Heart, from the April 2016 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translation released 10th Nov.2016
[1] Describing the noble qualities of the Buddha's life, the four virtues are explained as follows: "eternity" means unchanging and eternal; "joy" means tranquillity that transcends all suffering; "true self" means true and intrinsic nature; and "purity" means free of illusion or mistaken conduct.
