-- TO MY FRIENDS --
It's that time of the year
when the mornings grow ever chillier.
Striving to spread a message of hope,
right from the start of the day,
are none other than the noble deliverers
of our SGI newspapers and other publications.
We all appreciate your efforts
and hope that you will always make
safety and health your number one priority,
as well as being carefully aware
of your surroundings.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Therefore a person who upholds the Lotus Sutra is repaying the debt of gratitude owed to their father and mother. Even if one does not feel in one's own heart that one can do so, one can repay it through the power of this sutra."

(The Four Virtues and the Four Debts of Gratitude ,
- WND, Vol.2, page 638)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Never prejudge a situation, deciding in advance that a particular community or person will rebuff your efforts to share Buddhism. The Mystic Law is like the all-illuminating sun.

"As human beings, we all seek happiness and peace while dealing with the inescapable realities of ageing, sickness, and death. By reaching out to engage in frank and open dialogue, we can help others form a connection to Buddhism, and spread trust and understanding for our movement.

"The Daishonin writes: 'Even a stranger, if you open up your heart to him, may be willing to lay down his life for you' (WND-1, 444). I have built bridges of friendship and blazed trails of trust wherever I have travelled. Today, our great Soka network for peace, culture, and education spans the world, shining with the brilliant light of hope."

SGI Newsletter No. 9480, Creating the New Era, (26) Spreading Our Network of Buddhism with Hearts like the Sun, from 2nd October, 2016, issue of the Seikyo Shinbun, translation released 1st Nov. 2016.
