-- TO MY FRIENDS --
What "challenging through faith" means
is that we always,
first and foremost,
chant daimoku.
At the same time,
it means that we make the firm decision
that our mission is going to be
the realisation of the happiness
of both ourselves and others.
Let's all enjoy winning in this lifetime!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"When you shake your head, your hair sways; when your mind begins to work, your body moves. When a strong wind blows, the grass and trees can no longer remain still; when the earth shakes, the seas are atremble. Thus if one can move Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings, can the grass and trees fail torespond, can the waters remain calm?"
(Concerning the Statue of Shakyamuni Buddha Fashioned by Nichigen-nyo
- WND, Vol. II, page 811)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Naturally, as a youth who was new to the practice of Nichiren Buddhism, I had many questions. But having met Mr. Toda, I spent my days deeply pondering and reflecting on Buddhism's answers to the fundamental questions of existence and philosophy.
"Mr. Toda often said: 'Faith seeks understanding, and understanding deepens faith.' 'Understanding,' here, could also be expressed as 'logic' or 'reason.' From my personal experience, faith is deepened by clarifying questions or doubts and continuing to think about them intently in the course of our Buddhist practice, until we finally arrive at a satisfactory answer that we can accept with all our hearts.
"In The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, the Daishonin states: 'Outside of belief there can be no understanding, and outside of understanding there can be no belief' (OTT, 54–55).
"In other words, through deepening our faith, a seeking spirit to understand the teachings arises, and through studying the teachings and putting them into practise, we strengthen our conviction as we experience the power of Buddhist practice. And forging absolute conviction in the depths of our lives is what it means 'to be without doubt.'"
