---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"My mentor, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda declared: 'This is truly the time of kosen-rufu. We must be courageous.'[1] In order to act with courage, he said, we must have absolute conviction in what we are doing.

"…Mr. Toda stressed: 'Faith, practice, and study are vital prerequisites for us followers of Nichiren Buddhism, and teaching others about the Mystic Law is an essential requirement for all believers who have pledged to realise kosen-rufu. Once we embrace the Gohonzon, we need to remember that the Buddha entrusted us with this mission countless ages in the past."[2]

"Indeed, faith, practice, and study are the driving force for the growth and victory of all Soka Gakkai members, who are Bodhisattvas of the Earth from time without beginning. They are eternal guidelines for our efforts to carry out the mission we have been entrusted by the Buddha.

"In 'The True Aspect of All Phenomena,' Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'Exert yourself in the two ways of practice and study. Without practice and study, there can be no Buddhism. You must not only persevere yourself; you must also teach others. Both practice and study arise from faith' (WND-1, 386).

"Exerting ourselves in faith, practice, and study and upholding the correct teaching, directly connected to the Daishonin, have been the tradition of the Soka Gakkai since its earliest days. Today, Nichiren Buddhism pulses vibrantly only within the efforts of Soka Gakkai members to compassionately propagate the Mystic Law based on faith, practice, and study.

"At this time, when the Soka Gakkai is making further great strides as a world religion, I would like to reaffirm with our members everywhere the importance of faith, practice, and study, by examining various passages from the Daishonin's writings."
