-- TO MY FRIENDS --
This is the time of year
when there are numerous opportunities
to make new friends
(at a new school or work place
or in the neighbourhood
where we might be starting afresh.)
Meeting a positive influence in and of itself
is a great asset that can beautifully adorn our lives.
Having in our hearts the spirit
to develop good relations with new people,
let's find the type of friend(s) whom we can form heart-to-heart bonds with.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Whether or not your prayer is answered will depend on your faith; [if it is not] I will in no way be to blame."

(Reply to the Lay Nun Nichigon
- WNDVol. I, page 1079)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The key to avoiding accidents is to observe the
basics in both faith and daily life. Neglecting the basics is a sign of carelessness, and actually arises from arrogance. Especially, in the realm of faith, those who neglect the basics, are consumed by a desire for fame and fortune, and try to get by with the least amount of effort always stumble in the end. But don't forget, that though they may fool others, no one can escape the strict Buddhist law of cause and effect.

"I hope that you will diligently practice the basics in every area, remain unswayed by circumstances, give sincere, serious, and wholehearted attention to dealing with each challenge you face, and triumph over all. As you repeat that process, your life will begin to shine brightly. I'd like you to have confidence in this."
