A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

April 3rd-9th, 2017
-- Words of the Week --
Buddhism is about the present and future.
"From right now on!"
"From right where we are now!"
It's about taking on new challenges,
always and forever.
By chanting daimoku
to bring forth from within us the life state
of the Buddha of time without beginning ,
let's again today,
take another step forwards!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet."

- WND, Vol. I, page 17)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Morning and evening,
praying for the good health
of my precious friends,
I call on the heavenly deities to watch over
their dance as Bodhisattvas of the Earth.

"Nichiren Daishonin endured harsh winters both on Sado Island and at Mount Minobu, describing the experience as follows: 'There [on Sado], true to the nature of that northern land, I found the wind particularly strong in winter, the snows deep' (WND-1, 519); and 'The snow has piled up and cut off the mountain path [here in Minobu]' (WND-2, 809). Yet, as his writings clearly show, even in such trying circumstances, the beautiful exchange between mentor and disciple continued without cease, with him warmly encouraging followers who came to visit him.

"As members of the Soka family, let's also support and encourage one another as we advance, undaunted by any hardship."

SGI Newsletter No. 9580, The Eternal Citadel of Soka, Paving the Way to Victory through the Shared Struggle of Mentor and Disciple, from 25th January, 2017, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translation released March 31st, 2017
